Social

Our club has a strong club identity, and a tradition of social events and well-attended club nights. Club nights are held every Thursday throughout the season and start with informal games from 6pm. Coaching is arranged on some nights.

At about 7.15pm we have a club-night supper, sometimes including some other activity, e.g. a quiz. Once a month we have a barbecue, which is always popular.

Our clubhouse has a seating area that can accommodate up to 50 people and is often used to serve refreshments after a match. Our kitchen has a modern 6-burner cooker and is fully stocked with crockery and cooking utensils. The bar serves an extensive range of beers, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.

We hold other social activities throughout the year. These include an extremely popular Christmas dinner. In recent years, nearly 30 members enjoyed a five-day break at Potters Resort in Norfolk, where the World Indoor Bowls Championships are held each year.

Other Activities

The club arranges other activities throughout the year and these are open to club members and their friends.

  • Monday, 9.30am – 12.30pm Cribbage group
  • Wednesday, 9.30am – 12.30pm Bridge group

Indoor Bowling

Although these other activities continue throughout the winter, Oak Hill is closed for bowling from the end of September. However, many of our members continue to bowl indoors at Glebelands Indoor Bowls Club, which is situated in Summers Lane, Finchley. We also play a few indoor fixtures during the winter months, mainly at Glebelands. For more information about Glebelands, please click here. Some of our members also bowl informally at the facility at Bramley Road, Southgate on a Thursday afternoon.
